In winter: the Portes du Soleil are here for you!
With its easy access to the ski area of Portes du Soleil, the most important season at La Chapelle d’Abondance is still winter. Portes du Soleil groups together 12 ski resorts and 650 km of pistes!
Enough for you to come back for several seasons in order to try them all! There are breathtaking views and every skier, whatever their level, will find pistes they like..
This enormous skiing area is made up of no less than 26 black pistes, 106 red pistes, 107 blue pistes and 34 green pistes. And that’s without counting the numerous snow parks for the more intrepid adventurers.
If, instead of the bustle of the ski slopes and cable cars, you prefer the calm and serenity of nature, there are lots of snow shoe paths and also a cross country skiing area of more than 25km at La Chapelle d’Abondance, which can connect to other areas like Châtel (9km) or Abondance (7.5km).
From Spring to Autumn: activities for all tastes
There are lots of paths for a gentle walk or a more sporty hike into the Alps or the ridges where there are breathtaking views.
If you want more exciting activities you can try the very secure via ferrata or take flight in a paraglider and look down on this wonderfully well conserved land.
The many little streams tumble into bigger ones where you can refresh yourself with rafting, hydro speeding, kayaking, canyoning…
Cornettes Hotel reception can point you in the direction of operators who can safely fulfil your craving for thrills, or for something gentler!
Once the snow has given in to spring you can start using the hiking paths where you might have unexpected encounters with local animals (marmots, chamois, deer, chough, eagles…) and see the plants which scatter colour over the Alpine pastures and undergrowth (trumpet gentians, meadow anemones, primroses, Solomon’s seal, and, if you are lucky, martagon lily or fritillaries…).
You’re certain to find something to beautify your day and leave you with wonderful memories.
